ALL ABOUT CORNICES Cornices are the narrow mouldings that you see capping the lines where the walls of a room meet the ceiling. Traditionally, they were made from wood, plaster, paper-covered plaster, polyurethane, and nowadays, they are made from polystyrene. Cornices and other mouldings were made exclusively from wood, but polystyrene has now emerged as a leading favourite because they are cost effective and easy to install. The fact that the installation of polystyrene cornices is a really simple process it’s probably the number one reason why they are so popular.  Since polystyrene cornices are installed using special adhesive glue, they can be successfully mounted onto a whole host of different surfaces, including concrete, wood, face brick, marble, tile, vinyl, steel, granite and plastic, to name just a few. Polystyrene cornices have a smooth, white surface, which merges exceptionally well with white ceilings. To paint them, all you need to do is to apply a single coat of white water-based paint. This is much quicker and easier when compared to painting other cornice materials, which often require an undercoat, and then 2 to 3 coats of paint. To make it even quicker, you can opt to spray paint a quick coat of paint onto your polystyrene cornices.

OVER TRUSS/ RAFTER One of the most cost-effective insulated ceilings is to install IsoBoard as a roof-liner over trusses, beams and rafters. The board, in addition to providing high levels of thermal insulation, provides a beautiful backdrop to exposed trusses, and can be painted to match as required.
NAIL UP CEILINGS Can be retrofitted below an existing ceiling to cover damage, provide insulation or change the appearance. Isoboard can also be fixed below concrete soffit.
BETWEEN TRUSS/RAFTER The beauty of the timber can be exposed, whether raw, treated or painted, with the thermal insulation providing a supporting and accentuating backdrop as well as proven and enduring thermal comfort. The IsoBoard can also be painted or stained to match each specific requirement.
ISOBOARD Isoboard is a rigid, high density, extruded polystyrene, manufactured in different thicknesses and lengths to meet almost any building thermal insulation requirements in the temperature range -30°c to +60°c. Thermal insulation provides a barrier to heat transfer, which keeps heat energy on one side of the board or the other. Isoboard can be painted with water based paints when used in exposed applications. Exposed to fire, isoboard shrinks away from the heat source. There are no flaming droplets, and no flame spread. The gases released as a product of combustion are less toxic than burning wood. Isoboard thermal insulation is available in standard lengths from 1.8m to 8m and in 600mm increments. Thicknesses range from 30mm, 40mm, 50mm and 80mm.
INVERTED ROOF Inverted roofs are designed with the waterproofing layer, usually a liquid-applied membrane, beneath the insulation. Insulation boards are loose-laid on top of the membrane and then weighed down with paving slabs or gravel ballast.
BETWEEN CAVITY WALL Cavity wall insulation will prevent heat transfer and build-up to the inner leaf of sun exposed walls.
UNDER SOFFIT The requirement for insulation is met by fixing IsoBoard to the under soffit surface of the slab as a ceiling.
PERIMETER WALL Isoboard is inserted against the foundations of the building on the outside from the surface to the depth of the foundation or 600mm, whichever is greater.
UNDER FLOOR Loss of heat through floors on concrete surface beds is experienced as a cold underfoot condition, particularly during winter when the supporting soils cool down due to hygroscopic action of water.
